The Gilbertos

In 1991 Thomas Pappon dissolved his prior group Fellini and left Brazil for Europe. Settling first in Germany and later London, he laid down numerous tracks alone, drawing on an acoustic guitar, a drum machine, and vocal input from his spouse Karla to shape a series of lo-fi pieces that moved across indie-pop, bossa-nova, and Brit-pop. Brazil’s Midsummer Madness Records gathered the entire set for release in 1999 as the album Os Eurosambas 1992-1998.
