Biography
Consisting of Jeff Kelly alongside Laura Weller, Goblin Market operated as a duo. Roughly fifteen years before Goblin Market issued its debut CD in 2001, Kelly had already established a presence across the U.S. indie landscape through membership in the Green Pajamas as well as through his own eccentric work as a solo singer and songwriter. Having stayed comparatively obscure up to that point, Weller entered the Green Pajamas only shortly ahead of the Goblin Market album’s appearance. The pair composed and performed wistful folk-rockish pieces for Ghostland, working individually rather than in tandem and at times adapting poems by Emily Bronte, Elizabeth Sidal, Edgar Allan Poe, and Christina Rosetti into song.
