Biography
Portland natives Clark Stiles and Nathan Khyber formed the Good Listeners in 2006 after relocating from the rainy northwest to Los Angeles. In just ten days they tracked their first album, Ojai, whose placement on the Devil Wears Prada soundtrack broadened their audience throughout the West Coast. Before 2006 ended they issued a second album, Crane Point Lodge. Drummer Derek Brown and trumpeter/keyboardist Stewart Cole later joined the touring lineup, and the expanded group spent the next two years traveling extensively while documenting the journey on videotape. That material became the basis for the 2009 documentary Don’t Quit Your Daydream, which chronicled the band’s challenges as an independent act on the road; the film appeared alongside a studio album sharing the same title.
