Biography
In 2003 the indie rock outfit the GoStation assembled in New York City, its founding lineup featuring Doug Levy on lead vocals, Matt Friedlander handling lead guitar and vocals, Nick Picozzi on bass, Erik Nyquist supplying guitar and vocals, and Justin Aaronson at the drum kit and percussion. Bill Raine—whose prior engineering and production work encompasses Rogue Wave, Mates of State, the Flaming Lips, and Phantom Planet—oversaw both the recording and mixing of the band’s first EP, Quiet Zone, before Edge Delay Records issued the release in 2005. Maintaining that partnership with Raine, the musicians devoted more than a year to shaping their debut full-length album, Passion Before Function, which appeared on September 25, 2007.
