US hard rock band Hand Of Glory fused dark Texan romanticism with a potent infusion of southern gothic. Although certain sonic traits recalled the Cult and the Doors, the group cultivated an original sonic identity all the same. Far From Kith and Kin offered several strong passages, above all the ironic revolutionary anthem ‘Ball And Chain’, yet ultimately failed to establish a clear identity. Here Be Serpents merged the magical, the maudlin and the macabre through an approach full of vitality and wit.
