Origin: U.S.A

Serving as yet another joint project between guitarist/vocalist Ralph Spight and bassist Larry Boothroyd, Hellworms trace the same trajectory as the Bay Area hardcore band Victim's Family (1984-94) and Saturn's Flea Collar (1996-97), with drummer Joaquin Spengemann (Walrus) filling out the trio. The band came together in 1997 immediately after Saturn's Flea Collar dissolved, reportedly selecting its name because Jello Biafra and the members' parents alike found it unappealing. Following support slots for Mike Watt and NoMeansNo, the group laid down its debut album, Crowd Repellent, issued in 1998.
