Biography
Vocalist Eric Arndt joined forces with guitarist Matt Fisher to launch the Hero Factor as a Tulsa-based five-piece whose sound echoed the Black Crowes during the final years of the 1990s. The present configuration, rounded out by vocalist Ben Kilgore, keyboard player Chad Copelin, and drummer Nathan Price, locked into place in 2002. The group rapidly cultivated an intense following for its hometown performances and issued its first recording a little more than a year afterward, the late-2003 live EP Tulsa City Limits, taped at the club bearing that name. Three selections from the earlier collection reappeared on the studio album Interactions, which surfaced in February 2005 and was followed by the concert set Live at Suede. A strong showing at the yearly CMJ gathering in New York during 2006 drew the attention of hip-hop producer Vada Nobles, who guided the band’s next project, the spring 2007 EP Battling Chimaera.
