Biography
The Hiders emerged from the individual songwriting pursuits of frontman Bill Alletzhauser, whose sound recalled country-rockers Tom Petty and Neil Young. During his teenage years he performed in multiple thrash and punk groups before achieving an initial breakthrough with the metal band Grinch, whose gigs included support slots for Nirvana and the Afghan Whigs. While playing in the Ass Ponys he met producer Brad Jones, whose attention turned to Alletzhauser’s compositional abilities. With that encouragement he reserved studio time in Nashville and gathered friends Beth Harris, Toby Ellis, Tyler Ramsey, Dave Gilligan, Victor Strunk, and Todd Drake to record his debut project. Alletzhauser and the assembled musicians adopted the name the Hiders, releasing their first album, Valentine, in 2006.
