Biography
Among the many overlooked garage ensembles hailing from mid-1960s Texas, the Highlifes distinguished themselves to a degree through their pair of extant recordings: an atmospheric and tuneful number styled after the British Invasion together with an intense, vigorous cover of Little Richard's "Lucille." Both selections appear on Collectable Records' Acid Visions: The Complete Collection, Vol. 2, while a further unreleased number called "Cloak and Dagger" surfaces on the same label's Cicadelic 60's, Vol. 2. Their precise membership stays unknown, yet like numerous peers from that time the outfit merited wider notice than it received, making it worthwhile to encounter their work even decades afterward.
