Biography
Seattle trio the HollowPoints formed in 2002 and specialized in punk with a pronounced hardcore edge. The lineup featured vocalist and guitarist Matty McKinney alongside bassist Ben Early and drummer Ben Colley, who released the Annihilation EP on Dirtnap in early 2004. They next partnered with Duane Peters—known for his work with U.S. Bombs and Die Hunns—and his Disaster label to deliver the 2005 full-length The Black Spot. Somber lyrics on that album conveyed frustration with America’s sociopolitical conditions while depicting the struggles of youth facing bleak prospects. The HollowPoints performed alongside the Briefs, Angel City Outcasts, G.B.H., and Toxic Narcotic; after recruiting second guitarist Will McCarthy, previously of Northwest metal punks Axes of Evil, in January 2006, the band toured the entire country with U.S. Bombs.
