Biography
Following the Broadways' 1998 dissolution, Dan Hanaway (vocals, guitar) and Rob DePaola (drums) joined forces later that year to establish the Honor System. They recruited guitarist Nolan McGuire and bassist Chris Carr, which produced a layered style of politically charged pop-punk as the group performed throughout their hometown of Chicago. Asian Man Records put out the Honor System's debut full-length, Single File, in 2000. A year afterward, Double Zero issued the 100% Synthetic EP, after which the band switched to Grey Flight for the June 2003 release Rise and Run. Once the group entered hiatus, Hanaway and Tyler Wiseman—who had taken over guitar duties from McGuire—launched Whale/Horse in February 2005.
