Formed in 2002, The Hoodies encountered lineup shifts and initial setbacks that postponed any real progress until 2004. Rochester, NY, served as the launch point for these former high-school friends and acquaintances—Dan Armbruster on vocals and guitar, Joe Morinelli on guitars, Brandon Desormeaux on bass, and Paul Brenner on drums—who handled their own 2005 full-length, Karma Is a Boomerang. The follow-up, Endings, surfaced in 2006. A consistent flow of EPs and albums, paired with dates alongside national acts such as Cute Is What We Aim For, allowed the band to prioritize self-marketing, pushing merchandise aggressively enough to land a clothing-label sponsorship. Their third album, A Place on Solid Ground, appeared in 2007.
