Electronic musicians John Bischoff, Chris Brown, Scot Gresham-Lancaster, Tim Perkis, and Phil Stone form the Hub, an ensemble that operates through a shared computer network bearing the same title and that evolved directly from one of Bischoff’s prior initiatives. Bischoff, Jim Horton, and Rich Gold created the League of Automatic Music Composers in the late 1970s, the earliest band organized around a computer network. That configuration performed less reliably once additional players joined the link, so targeted adjustments were introduced that in time produced the Hub. Since the mid-1980s the group has sustained an ongoing program of live appearances and recordings, issuing several albums on the Artifact label and joining the Rova Saxophone Quartet and Alvin Curran for two selections that appear on Wreckin’ Ball.
