Biography
The Illusion stood among the era's most accomplished yet unrecognized psychedelic acts, having issued three LPs on the Steed imprint despite their limited visibility. Michael Ricciardella handled drums, Richie Cerniglia played guitar, Chuck Alder covered bass, Mike Maniscalco contributed guitar and keyboards, and John Vinci supplied vocals. Between 1969 and 1970 Steed put out the albums Illusion, Together, and If It's So. The self-titled debut drew sufficient attention for an English pressing the same year. By 1971, collectors who had never witnessed a live performance were actively pursuing the group's records. The track "I Love You" later appeared on compact disc.
