Biography
The Inflorescence crafts melodic indie rock laced with punk energy, driven by lyrics centered on heartbreak and determination that lead singer and songwriter Tuesday Denekas delivers with visible frustration. Kill Rock Stars served as the outlet for the band’s first full-length effort, the 2022 album Remember What I Look Like.
A handful of San Diego teenagers launched the project in 2019, initially recording under the name the Fluorescents for an EP that appeared in May 2020. The release Self Titled contained material Tuesday Denekas had written as singer and guitarist between the ages of 14 and 17. Describing themselves as a “no-man band” while drawing from the breadth of indie, punk, emo, grunge, and alternative approaches, Denekas, bassist Sasha A’Hearn, drummer Milla Merlini, and guitarist/singer Charlee Berlin adopted the Inflorescence name before signing with Kill Rock Stars. The label issued Remember What I Look Like in June 2022, at which point the members were still managing high school and college schedules around performances at all-ages venues.
