After wedding in 2004, composer and banjo player David Gould from the Bootleg Remedy joined forces with singer/songwriter Caroline Schutz, formerly of Folksongs for the Afterlife, to launch the atmospheric rock duo the Inner Banks. Launched as a home-recording venture in Brooklyn, NY, during 2005, the project gradually incorporated additional guest musicians. When DAG! Records issued the debut album The Inner Banks on December 5, 2006, the finished recordings included Greta Gertler on vocals, Amie Margoles on French horn, Colin Brigstocke on trumpet, Yusuke Yamamoto on vibraphone and Wurlitzer, Michael Block on cello, Sarah Crocker on violin, Noah Geller on violin, and several Bootleg Remedy members: Michael Gomez on lap steel, Dave Yantorno on guitar, Jim Mansfield on drums, and Doug Largent on upright bass.
