Biography
The Insidious Rays formed in Bethlehem, PA, where they blend surf, country, reggae, and punk rock into a high-energy sound laced with psychedelic overtones. Singer and guitarist Matt Love had already composed the majority of their material in isolation before recruiting the remaining members. Once prepared to expand the group, he enlisted players whose broad musical backgrounds matched his own wide-ranging tastes. Lead guitarist Mike Davidson arrived with touring experience from multiple independent acts, bassist Dave Johnsen had performed with the Zappa-inspired Project/Object, drummer Jon Braun had previously worked alongside Chris Harford, and keyboardist Nick Levinos brought formal jazz training to the lineup. The band issued More Songs About Sex, Love, Death and Sex in 2003.
