Biography
With a cerebral fusion of art rock, post-punk, funk, dance-pop, and Afro-beat, The Invisible cook up a dense yet gratifying musical concoction. The London-based trio first assembled after singer/guitarist Dave Okumu recruited bassist Tom Herbert and drummer Leo Taylor in 2006 to support a solo undertaking. The players clicked rapidly, embraced their collective identity, adopted the name the Invisible, and landed a deal with Accidental Records, the label operated by Matthew Herbert, who also produced the group’s debut. Issued in the U.K. during 2009, that elusive album drew near-unanimous praise from domestic critics and secured the band a spot on the Mercury Prize short list for the same year. The Invisible later moved to Ninja Tune, which issued their second album Rispah in 2012 and their third album Patience in 2016. The Patience (Remixes) set followed in 2017.
