Biography
The Jauntee, a jam band devoted to ceaseless exploration, chart a fresh course with every stage appearance, tracing a lineage to Phish through funky, surrealistic, and technically dazzling material whose improvisations continually reshape themselves. Unbound by genre conventions or any fixed approach, the group applies the same outlook to recorded work such as the 2023 album Anything and to the frequent concerts preserved in the Jaunts of Our Lives series.
Formed in Boston during 2010, the quartet comprises drummer/vocalist Scott Ferber, guitarist/vocalist Caton Sollenberger, bassist John Loland, and keyboardist/vocalist Tyler Adams. They merged exacting musicianship with an openness to digression, quickly earning notice for singular live performances and steady road work. Their sound developed as readily in the studio as onstage, evident on the 2012 album Enjoy the Ride and its 2015 follow-up, Excelsior, which weave bluegrass, funk, progressive pop, and celebratory songwriting into a single fabric. After moving to Denver, Colorado, the Jauntee settled into a routine of roughly one hundred shows annually, each set list differing from the last. Selected performances appear on the live album Always Never Knowing from 2018 and on multiple installments of the Jaunts of Our Lives series. In 2023 the band issued the studio album Anything.
