Biography
Hailing from North Carolina, the Johnson Family Singers ranked among the foremost gospel acts during radio's classic broadcast years. Comprising the Johnson parents and their four offspring, the ensemble maintained a steady CBS presence across the 1940s and 1950s through weekly fifteen-minute Sunday-morning slots, while their catalog featured such selections as "Dig a Little Deeper," "Farther Along," "Death of Ellenton" and "Keep on the Sunny Side." Betty Johnson, one of the children, went on to build a thriving solo career.
