Arizona's The Kaleidoscope Kid crafts a genre-blending style that fuses psychedelic grunge rock, hip-hop, and electronic elements into his confessional pop approach. After issuing several independent projects, he reached a broader audience through the self-titled 2022 official debut The Kaleidoscope Kid, followed by 2023's Nothing for Free and 2024's Azul.

Born in Phoenix as Josh Murphy, the artist received his first guitar from his parents at age nine, yet skateboarding soon eclipsed that pursuit, delaying his return to the instrument for another ten years. After a diagnosis of inflammatory arthritis left him unhappy with available treatments, he relocated to Sedona and adopted an off-the-grid lifestyle amid nature and a local creative community, where he resumed guitar playing and songwriting while drawing from Pink Floyd, Beck, Bob Marley, and Sublime. Upon returning to the Phoenix/Scottsdale region, he settled into a studio owned by the hip-hop collective Odd Squad Family, laying down early recordings such as Quail Run, Thank You Stranger, and All Dogs Go to Heaven while testing various instruments to refine his voice.

He joined Regime Music Group and Suburban Noize in 2021, issuing the official debut The Kaleidoscope Kid the following year. In 2023 he delivered Nothing for Free and toured as support for acts including the Moss, Milky Chance, Incubus, and Felly. With 2024's Azul he stepped out independently after ending his ties to those labels, enlisting Real Khiry, A-Factor, Sincerely Collins, and Taylor Edoria for featured appearances.
