The Kanneh-Mason household comprises seven classical musicians—siblings whose ages range across a twelve-year span—who rotate among violin, piano, and cello. After training at London's Royal Academy of Music, the three oldest, Sheku on cello, Isata on piano, and Braimah on violin, began performing regularly as a trio and had already established their reputation before the younger four—Konya on violin and piano, Jeneba on cello and piano, Aminata on violin and piano, and Mariatu on cello and piano—were ready to participate. Their first collective stage appearance, with Mariatu still too young to join, occurred during the 2015 season of Britain's Got Talent. Sheku, Isata, Braimah, Konya, and Jeneba appeared at the 2018 BAFTA ceremony, yet the full set of seven did not share a platform until the Royal Variety Performance in 2019. Carnival of the Animals, their debut album, appeared in 2020.
