The Legion

The Legion, a Swedish black metal outfit, originated in 1999 when drummer Emil Dragotinovic joined forces with guitarists David Svartz and Rikard Kottelin. A pair of demos emerged over the following years, after which the 2003 EP Awakened Fury appeared, also incorporating vocalist Sune Hammarström and bassist Lars Martinsson. That same year brought the full-length Unseen to Creation, which introduced new singer Anders Fäldt, locking the band’s approach into the relentless Swedish black metal lineage of raw aggression and relentless velocity shared with Dark Funeral and Naglfar. Silence followed until 2006, as Dragotinovic occupied the drum chair in Marduk; the group then surfaced with its second album, Revocation, on which Svartz assumed vocals, Martinsson took over guitar duties, and Kristoffer Andersson entered as the new bassist.
