Biography
Alternative rock group Life of Riley originated with brothers Cassidy and Brice Campbell. Hailing from Houston, TX, the pair spent several years crisscrossing the United States to perform at clubs and sizable Christian youth gatherings. In 2003 they traveled to Memphis to cut an album on their own. There they collaborated with Skidd Mills (Gin Blossoms, Skillet), and the three soon developed a close friendship that led them to launch a production company together. Among the company’s early successes were the hit Christian rock singles Inhabited’s “Rescue Me” and Modern Day John’s “Autumn.” Having enjoyed working with other acts, the brothers decided to compose material of their own, which prompted the creation of Life of Riley. Longtime friend Barry Ochsner joined on bass and guitar to complete the core alongside lead singer Cassidy and guitarist/vocalist Brice. Drummer Joel Killingsworth later locked the lineup into place. Drawing from Switchfoot, Chevelle, and Lifehouse, the musicians shaped a melodic, emotionally direct brand of rock. They began touring in February 2006 to promote their first album, Days Away from Life, which KikStart Records, based in Missouri, issued that August.
