Originating in the modest community of Big Bear Lake, California, the punk-pop band the Line—consisting of Doh H on vocals and guitar, Gip K on bass, Ryan L on guitar, and M on drums—has maintained an active presence from the early through the middle years of the 1990s. Their self-titled debut album appeared in February 1995 and prompted an 18-month run of supporting dates that placed them onstage with Sublime, Guttermouth, and Less Than Jake throughout the United States and Canada. Auricle, the quartet’s second album, arrived in 1997 and triggered the group’s first European tour, shared with Millencolin and Satanic Surfers. The third album, Disimilar, surfaced in January 2000 and opened the door to further road work, a slot on the complete 2001 Warped Tour, an MCA recording contract, and the October release that same year of the band’s major-label debut, Monsters We Breed.
