Hailing from Britain, the Long Tall Texans fuse psychobilly, rockabilly, and eclectic punk into an exuberant sound. The Brighton-formed trio dates to 1985 and originally included bassist/singer Mark Carew, guitarist Mark "Boggles" Denman, and drummer Anthony Theodotou. Early momentum came from high-energy performances at the city’s rockabilly club The Klub Foot. Before any full-length release, the group placed two tracks—“900 Miles” and “One More Time”—on the regional anthology Sounds of the Southern Scene. Their debut album, Sodbusters, arrived on Razor Records in 1987, received Radio 1 airplay, and expanded their reach through European tours. Further well-received LPs followed in 1989 with Five Beans in the Wheel and Saturnalia.

The 1991 album Singing to the Moon introduced broader stylistic range, including blues and reggae passages. By the mid-’90s Denman had withdrawn from touring while continuing to write for the band; guitarist Garry Castleman and saxophonist Paul Mumford stepped in, both appearing on 1994’s Aces and Eights. Studio activity slowed over the next decade yet live dates continued. After Mumford’s exit, the 2005 release Adventures of the Long Tall Texans appeared. Castleman later yielded his role to guitarist Matt Windler, and the resulting seventh studio album, Devil Made Us Do It, emerged in 2014.
