Biography
The Lost Dogs came together in the early 1990s when four preexisting bands joined forces. Their first record, Scenic Routes, appeared in 1992. Blending sounds that drew praise from listeners of both alternative country and Christian music, the band kept a modest yet steadily expanding presence. What looked like a breakthrough arrived with the third album, The Green Room Serenade, Vol. One. A broader assortment of styles kept surfacing on subsequent releases until guitarist and vocalist Gene Eugene died at the Green Room, the group’s own studio, following the 1999 album Gift Horse. The remaining members carried on as a trio and issued Real Men Cry through BEC Recordings in 2001; Nazarene Crying Towel then surfaced on the same BEC label in April 2003.
