Biography
In 2016 the Lurking Fear came together in Gothenburg as a talent-stocked old-school Swedish death metal collective whose lineup drew from At the Gates, the Haunted, Skitsystem, Tormented, Disfear, and God Macabre. The quintet—Tomas Lindberg on vocals, Fredrik Wallenberg and Jonas Stålhammar on guitar, Adrian Erlandsson on drums, and Andreas Axelson on bass—looked to extreme metal forerunners Autopsy, Slayer, Bathory, and Possessed for its sound and issued its debut long-player, Out of the Voiceless Grave, through Century Media in 2017. On the 2021 follow-up Death, Madness, Horror, Decay the group pursued a tighter, more dynamic and ferocious approach while retaining an uncompromising stance and a Lovecraft-inspired atmosphere.
