Biography
The snarling, harmonica-driven classic "So What!" remains the track for which this California-based group is chiefly remembered. Emerging in the late '50s as a conventional R&B outfit, the band underwent a dramatic shift in 1964 upon the arrival of vocalist Chris Gaylord amid the British Invasion, reemerging as long-haired, Rolling Stones-influenced punkers. Besides issuing "So What!" in 1965, they cut additional numbers such as "Wake up to My Voice," "Mr. Man," and "Wait," all of which later surfaced on various '60s garage rock anthologies.
