Biography
Formed in the UK as a psychedelic pop outfit, the group featured Jim Thomas on guitar and vocals alongside Jack Collins on drums, Stan Curtis on organ, and Melvyn Hacker on bass. Their lone 1968 long-player This Is ranks among the stronger entries in the psych pop field, distinguished by its compelling instrumental passages across tracks such as ‘(I’m So) Sad’, ‘Urge To Leave’ and ‘Slowly The Day’. Humour-driven pieces, including ‘Motorbike Song’, landed with less impact. Issued on Saga Records during the late 60s, the album suffered from substandard pressing and scant distribution, much like other releases on that label at the time. Lingering curiosity later prompted a 1987 CD edition from the German imprint Bat Records and a subsequent 1993 UK pressing on Merlin Records. Following the band’s dissolution Thomas turned to session work while his former bandmates left the music industry altogether.
