Biography
Liverpool, England’s Magic Theatre came together in 2012 when former Ooberman members Sophia Churney and Dan Popplewell decided to launch the project. Their baroque pop draws heavily on 1960s textures, unfolding in sweeping, cinematic narratives that justify the band’s evocative name. Cargo Records released the duo’s debut album, the robust and opulent time-travel love story London Town, in 2010. Two years after signing with Elefant Records, they delivered their follow-up, Long Way Home, retaining the same warmth while expanding into kaleidoscopic, steampunk-driven territory.
