Biography
Parisian electro duo the Micronauts brought together Christophe Monier, who had earlier issued material under his own name and the Discotique alias, with Canadian-born George Issakidis after the latter relocated to France in 1990. The pair first connected through their work on the fanzine Eden, leading to the 1995 release of the Micronauts 12-inch “The Jazz,” which the Chemical Brothers publicly endorsed; Monier and Issakidis reciprocated by remixing the Chemicals’ hit “Block Rockin’ Beats.” Further Micronauts singles, among them 1996’s “Get Funky Get Down,” appeared before the duo joined Astralwerks for their U.S. introduction via 1999’s “The Jag” and the next year’s Bleep to Bleep.
