Biography
In autumn 2003 the members of The Mighty Nimbus converged on Minneapolis to track their self-titled debut album. The sessions brought together an accomplished roster of American sludge, doom, and stoner rock players: Dan Soren on vocals and “Minnesota” Pete Campbell on guitar, both formerly of Sixty Watt Shaman; bassist Dinis de Carvalho, late of Electric Chair Horror; drummer Andy Campbell, previously with Chaos Witch; and, most notably, Erik Larson, the ever-inventive guitarist from Alabama Thunderpussy. Once the record was finished, Soren and Larson immediately returned to their other projects. Candlelight Records issued the album to widespread acclaim in 2004. Alex “The Yeti” Petrovic was soon recruited to fill the vocal slot, and Larson was likewise persuaded to rejoin long enough for the band to tour the United States with Entombed, Crowbar, and Pro-Pain.
