Formed by musicians from the UK who connected in Berlin, the Mighty Roars met the sudden loss of their drummer and the resulting lineup adjustments by pressing forward, ultimately landing a contract with the independent imprint One Little Indian. The group first drew attention through the song “Daddy Oh,” which spread rapidly as an online favorite. Little Teddy then stepped in with an offer that allowed the release of the band’s debut EP, Take a Bite of Peach, in 2005. While playing frequent shows that earned strong critical notice, the Mighty Roars had to regroup after their drummer departed; bassist David moved behind the kit, Lara shifted from guitar to bass, and guitarist Martin held his position. One Little Indian quickly signed them after the reconfigured trio’s first performance together, sending the band to Sweden to begin recording. When those sessions stalled, the group relocated to Wales and finished their debut album, Sellotape, which appeared in early 2008.
