The Mint Chicks

Hailing from Auckland, New Zealand, the uninhibited punk and post-hardcore outfit the Mint Chicks came together in 2001 with Michael Logie on bass, Kody Nielson supplying vocals and piano, Ruban Nielson on guitar, and Paul Roper at the drums. They joined the Flying Nun roster a couple years afterward and introduced themselves via the six-song Octagon, Octagon, Octagon EP. Eight months later the label issued their next EP, Anti-Tiger, though a lone single had already surfaced on Fierce Panda. Within months the quartet progressed from headlining modest hometown dates to touring overseas and supporting TV on the Radio, the White Stripes, and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. After a series of road trips in 2005 they tracked their first album, F**k the Golden Youth, then released the more melodically developed Crazy? Yes! Dumb? No! in 2006.
