Biography
The Muggabears, a Brooklyn trio frequently likened to pioneering noise and indie rock outfits such as Pavement and Sonic Youth, feature Travis Johnson on guitar and vocals, Emily Ambruso on bass, and Kevin Murphy on drums. Johnson originally assembled the project with an earlier roster of players in 2003 while enrolled at the University of Oklahoma. Their inaugural release, Kim Berlin, appeared the following year. After relocating to New York in winter 2005, Johnson brought Ambruso and Murphy into the fold, and the resulting lineup delivered the self-released EP Teenage Cop in September 2006.
