Biography
The Mullens, a Dallas, Texas quintet, channel the raw proto-punk energy of early-1970s acts like the Stooges and the New York Dolls while also nodding to select New York City punk bands of the decade, among them the Ramones and Dead Boys. Assembled in the mid-1990s, the lineup centers on frontman Tim Stile, guitarist Matt Mayo, bassist Dana Williams, and drummer Rod Baird. All three of the band’s albums—the self-titled debut from 1997, Go Where the Action Is in 1999, and Tough to Tell in 2001—came out on the Get Hip label and drew positive coverage in respected punk periodicals such as Maximum Rock and Roll and Flipside.
