Biography
Teddy Edwards fronts the Music Lovers and channels the spirit of Serge Gainsbourg together with classic romantic pop, contributing vocals and guitar. A native of Birmingham, England, Edwards relocated to San Francisco in 1994, where an encounter with bassist Jon Brooder occurred during his work as an MC. Drummer Paul Comaskey soon completed the original roster. Shortly after the group’s debut concert in New York in 2002, a demo led to their signing with Le Grand Magistery, which released the EP Cheap Songs Tell The Truth in November 2003. Their first full-length album, The Words We Say Before We Sleep, appeared the following October. Comaskey exited in early 2005, prompting the arrival of ex-Nelories member Jun Kurihara on piano and accordion, Colin Sherlock on drums, and Bryan Cain on guitar. This refreshed lineup recorded The Music Lovers' Guide for Young People, issued in September 2006.
