Biography
Comprising a father and his three sons, the Neales formed a vocal ensemble defined by polished presentation and strong familial bonds. Laurie Neale, previously a practicing lawyer, came to singing relatively late, an outcome shaped partly by a brush with mortality. At age 49 he endured a heart attack that nearly proved fatal; the experience prompted him to reevaluate his priorities, reduce his professional workload, and devote additional time to his family. While recovering, he began vocal training, recognized his natural aptitude, and continued refining his technique. He soon realized that his sons Phil, Dan, and James also possessed singing ability, which led him to convince them to establish a group. In 2015 the quartet auditioned for the U.K. talent contest Britain’s Got Talent. Their live performance earned a standing ovation, yet they finished as runners-up. The following year, despite falling short of victory, the Neales issued their first single, “I’ll Be There,” timed to align with Father’s Day in June 2016.
