Biography
Originating from Athens, GA, the experimental post-punk outfit the New Sound of Numbers operated as a venture fronted by visual artist and percussionist Hannah Jones, who also belonged to Circulatory System and the Instruments. Functioning primarily as a solo endeavor, Jones handled most of the work from her residence while enlisting assistance to lay down the first album, Liberty Seeds, from Heather McIntosh (of the Instruments, Elf Power, and Japancakes), John Fernandes (of the Olivia Tremor Control, Circulatory System, Elf Power, and Dark Meat), Will Cullen Hart (of the Olivia Tremor Control and Circulatory System), and Bill Doss (of the Olivia Tremor Control and the Sunshine Fix). Fernandes’ independent imprint Cloud Recordings put out the record on October 10, 2006, after which a tour helped spread the word.
