Biography
The Nobodys, an obscure new wave outfit, nearly reached a broader audience when their single "No Guarantees" landed on the Miami Vice soundtrack. Despite heavy rotation of the accompanying video in Canada and the Philippines, the group sank into obscurity that matched its moniker. Safeway Goya handled vocals, Alex Blanc played guitar and keyboards while adding backing vocals, Eric Garcia covered bass and guitar, Ken Ypparila contributed guitar, violin, and keyboards, and Tim Burke sat behind the drums. Capitol Records issued the band's sole album, also titled No Guarantees, in 1984. The witty tracks, whose lyrics touched on leg fetishes and computer addiction, earned favorable reviews yet never translated into widespread popularity. Following the Miami Vice broadcast on November 1, 1985, the Nobodys vanished from public view.
