Biography
In 1995 the Onlys assembled in Austin, Texas, after bassist Steven Bonn began collaborating with drummer Jason Lavalle, vocalist/guitarist/keyboardist Jason Chenoweth, and Chenoweth’s brother Joel on vocals and guitar. Drawing from a broad spectrum of classic rock, country, and indie rock, the musicians spent the next couple of years shaping their style; Bonn’s exit in 1997 prompted Jason Chenoweth to move to bass, leaving the Onlys as a power trio. That same year they issued their first album, 1300, and four years later followed it with Tune the Blue Screen, an album that combined older and newly written material. Guitarist Jamie Hill was subsequently added to the lineup, and the band dedicated the balance of 2000 to touring and promoting the record.
