Biography
Whimsical power pop from the Orange Opera stems primarily from singer/songwriter Kevin Hambrick, who launched the group in the early 2000s while sustaining a parallel solo career. The Ft. Wayne, IN quartet channeled admiration for E.L.O., Badfinger, and the Beatles into updated surroundings, complete with lyrics centered on ice cream stores and football games. That blend secured a regional audience, prompting the lineup—bassist Bryan Brubaker, guitarist Michael Ostermeyer, drummer Kevin Hockaday, and multi-instrumentalist Hambrick—to fund a series of independent recordings that included the 2008 effort Ant Muscle.
