Biography
Formed in the wake of Mark Osegueda's 1991 departure from Death Angel, The Organization assembled the Bay Area thrash metal titans' remaining four members—guitarist/vocalist Rob Cavestany, guitarist Gus Pepa, bassist Dennis Pepa, and drummer Andy Galeon—into a new heavy metal band. To outlast thrash's commercial collapse, they shifted toward a classic heavy metal/hard rock direction and released two Metal Blade albums: the self-titled 1993 debut and the imprudently named Savor the Flavor in 1995. Indifference from audiences prompted their breakup the next year. Later projects involving some or all of the same musicians, most notably the Swarm, appeared over time, yet a full Death Angel reunion began taking shape in 2001 and reached fruition with the 2004 comeback album The Art of Dying.
