The Orion Experience

Formed in 2005 through a partnership between longtime friends Orion Simprini and Linda Horwatt, The Orion Experience emerged as a playful indie pop outfit whose cheeky material draws inspiration from the Hard Lessons, the Rentals, and Alphabeat. After exchanging concepts and laying down initial tracks, Simprini and Horwatt concluded that additional musicians would be required to complete their sonic vision, so they brought bassist Chris Lucas, drummer Jon Weber, and guitarist Reef Roxx into the lineup. The expanded ensemble then entered the studio to capture their first full-length release, Cosmicandy, which arrived in 2007. Its opening track, "I'm Obsessed with You," generated online attention, particularly from Perez Hilton, prompting the group to return quickly to the studio for further sessions. Their second project, a self-titled EP overseen by producer Jon Kaplan, reached listeners via the internet the next year.
