Biography
Formed during October 1993 in Santa Monica, California, the Painted iD united four musicians: Tori Robinson on vocals, Ricardo "Rico" Belled handling bass duties, Barry Schapira supplying vocals plus percussion, and Peter De Baets covering guitar along with vocals. Before uniting, each participant had already logged time with earlier groups.
Steady appearances at coffeehouses and clubs allowed the foursome to develop an audience through persistent live performances rather than sudden exposure. Killing Birds with Stones arrived as their debut album in 1995. A second collection did not surface until 1999, when the self-titled release came out on Fox Street Records. Acoustic pop/rock numbers such as "Revolving Walls," "&Bittersweet Childhood," "Complicated Goddess," "No Reaching Me," "I'm Flying," "Days of Insincere Pleasantries," and "Passionless" appear on the band's recordings.
The group disbanded in January 2000, before any third album could be completed, even as critics anticipated strong sales results.
