Biography
The Papillomas actually trace their roots to Nanaimo, British Columbia, yet their twin guitars deploy buoyant hooks in the vein of Superchunk and Archers of Loaf, prompting assumptions that the group emerged from the collegiate indie enclaves of Chapel Hill or Athens, Georgia. Operating since 1991, the four musicians have stayed rooted within their surrounding logging milieu while gaining the means to crisscross North America under the auspices of Hub City Records. The outcome has been three albums: 1995’s Corolla, 1997’s Twice As Early as You’d Ever Want to Be There, and 2001’s When Years Were Bee Stings.
