The Passing Fancy

Origin: U.S.A
Listen on Coda
Formed in Toronto, Canada, during the 1960s, the pop ensemble A Passing Fancy issued just one album, yet it delivered two major successes through the singles "I'm Losing You Tonight" and "I Believe in Sunshine."

Its roster featured guitarists Ron Forster, Brian Smith, Jay Telfer, and Phil Seon, lead singer and pianist Fergus Hambleton, drummers Louis Pratile and Steve Wilson, organist Brian Price, and bassists Rick Mann and Dan Troutman. The sole long-player appeared in 1967 as a self-titled debut recorded for the Boo Records label. Several years afterward the members dispersed, with some launching solo careers and others entering different groups. Peacemaker Records reissued the album on CD in 2000, an unexpected treat for longtime followers who had assumed Passing Fancy songs would never surface outside their original black vinyl pressings.
