Biography
In early 2000, Oakland, California, gave rise to the Pattern, a five-piece group that merged captivating melodies with the combustible force of rock and roll. Each member brought prior band experience to the project, which was fronted by vocalist and songwriter Christopher Appelgren alongside guitarists Jason Rosenberg and Andy Asp, bassist Carson Bell, and drummer Jim Anderson. Their approach blended garage rock, indie textures, and punk’s high-voltage drive, yielding fresh and inventive alternative material.
Soon after forming, the ensemble quickly cultivated supporters throughout the United States and Europe. Multiple 7-inch releases preceded their entry into the studio for a debut album in 2001. Lookout Records issued that first full-length, Immediately, in September 2001, earning positive coverage from area press. Late that same year, the Oakland outfit began organizing its initial large-scale national tour, sharing bills with the Vue, the Donnas, and Girls Against Boys.
