Biography
The Del-Vetts, a Chicago outfit celebrated for one of the standout mid-'60s garage rock singles, "Last Time Around," later recorded under the name Pride and Joy. After three singles issued as the Del-Vetts, the group adopted the new name for the 1967 release "If You're Ready," a cut that came close to matching the earlier hit in its raw garage rock drive, built on forceful guitars and sharp pop hooks. Later the same year they released one additional single, the atypical pop/rocker "We've Got a Long Way to Go," written by Barry Mann and Cynthia Weil, backed by "That's the Way It Is," a track the Del-Vetts had already put out previously. Every song from the Pride and Joy singles appears on the 10" LP The Del-Vetts, released by Sundazed in 2008, which also contains the full body of material the band recorded as the Del-Vetts.
